Russalt began working out a new floor in the mines of Sol-Iletsk

24.02.2022

Glavgosexpertiza issued a positive conclusion on the project of stripping and mining of a floor at a depth of -240/-270m of the Iletsk deposit. The examination confirmed that the design documentation complies with the results of engineering surveys and meets the requirements of all technical regulations.

Obtaining such a conclusion officially launches work on the development of the so-called “floor” in underground salt mines. The company “Russalt” confirmed that in February they had already begun to implement the project. The development of new areas for the extraction of salt makes it possible to more carefully mine salt, working off floor by floor and, if necessary, conserving the worked-out mines.

Recall that on the territory of the Orenburg region there is one of the largest salt mines in Russia – the Iletskoe deposit, where salt is mined by the mine method and processed at the salt factory by the Russalt Company, the largest salt producer in Russia. The Iletsk rock salt deposit, famous both for the purity of the product itself and for the thickness of its occurrence, has been known since ancient times. Modern technologies make it possible to extract and process salt from 1,700 to 2,000 thousand tons per year with the help of tunneling machines, descending into mines to a depth of more than 300 meters.
