Russalt, the largest salt mining company in Russia, with the assistance of Rimpull Corporation (a leading manufacturer of trucks in the United States) has created an innovative salt picker Harvester CH 1000, the press service of the Russian company reported.

Russalt specialists have fully developed the concept of the pick-up, the parts are designed and manufactured at the Rimpull plant. American engineers were also personally present at the assembly of the unit and its testing at the experimental site of the Baskunchak salt lake in the Astrakhan region. All work took three years.

According to the company, this engineering project was not only a technological breakthrough in open-pit salt mining at the deposit, but also made mining more environmentally friendly. A modern loader lifts brine and related rocks from the surface at a depth of no more than 0.5 meters. This allows you to collect raw materials and prepare the fields, where a layer of pure salt grows in 5-6 years.

The new salt picker processes up to 1 thousand tons of raw materials per hour. It is planned to start using it this year.
